The Ipswich Art Gallery has a rich history that dates back to 1951 when it first opened in the Town Hall. Over the years, it has evolved and grown into a professional art space, thanks to the relocation to St Paul's Young Men's Hall in 1980 and the appointment of its first Gallery Director in 1985. Today, the Gallery has found a permanent home in the restored old Town Hall, which was made possible by the generous donations of the Ipswich Arts Foundation. With its fascinating past and exciting present, the Ipswich Art Gallery is a must-visit for art enthusiasts and history buffs alike.
